For nearly 30 years, L’ŒUVRE LÉGER has stood by those who are most vulnerable: seniors, families, and the homeless. Those three causes are at the heart of our work in Quebec. In the name of human dignity, we aim to help reduce social and economic inequalities.
Our presence
L’ŒUVRE LÉGER is present in all 17 administrative regions of the province, supporting over 100 partner organizations. Since the creation of its aid programs in Quebec, nearly 2 million people have benefited from improved living conditions.
Our vision
The involvement of L’ŒUVRE LÉGER in Quebec goes beyond charity work. While providing for such basic needs as food, lodging and clothing is essential, the fight against poverty and social inequalities also requires that we take action aimed at prevention, education, the promotion of solidarity, accessibility to community facilities, and local development.
The three causes of L’ŒUVRE LÉGER are based on five guiding principles that regulate all of our interventions and management activities:
- Giving priority to supporting interventions and processes based on the quest for autonomy and the respect of the dignity of individuals, groups and communities.
- Recognizing the diversity of approaches and membership groups.
- Encouraging opportunities for speaking up, for collaboration, social analysis, and all forms of education.
- Being sensitive to the needs of the most vulnerable and those of underprivileged communities.
- Remaining flexible in applying principles, and thorough in managing programs.
